General Information:
Ametrine is a variety of quartz that is a blend of Amethyst and Citrine. This
beautiful gemstone is only found naturally in Anahí mine, in eastern
Bolivia. Ametrine is SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide) and it gets its two distint colors
from iron impurities. More commonly found separately, amethyst and citrine have
the same composition, it is the impurities in the mineral that creates the two
forms of these quartz varieties. Ametrine is yellow and purple, and most
commonly cut in rectangular shapes with a 50/50 ratio of each color. |

Common Treatments and Lab Created
Forms:
There is no treatment done on natural ametrine. There is lab ametrine
available, which is of the same composition as the natural ametrine. Lab
ametrine is generally more vivid in color than the natural. Simulants are also
available with the same effect as ametrine, but not of the same composition as
the natural.
